Antique Victorian era (c.1837-c.1901) pin/brooch, featuring detailed gold plated black and gold enamel and a working c clasp.

 History: The Victorian era (c.1837-c.1901) was named after Queen Victoria, whose reigned lasted from 1837-1901. She is the second longest ruling monarch, and there are three periods within the Victorian jewelry era. The Romantic Era (1847-60), The Grand Era (1860-1880), and the Aesthetic Era (1880-1901). Popular designs and jewelry characteristics of the Victorian era included the famous ‘mourning jewelry’ time period. This era included black and gold enamel, monogramed accessories, onyx, and sentimental materials to honor departed loved ones. The Mourning era was created after Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert passed. Queen Victoria went into mourning while consistently wearing all black attire and jewelry. This became a popular aesthetic in the U.K and the U.S.A. The last period, the Aesthetic
