History: The Edwardian Era began with the reign of King Edward VII after Queen Victoria’s death in 1901. The Era was defined by its extensive use of filigree designs, innovative platinum jewelry styles, and emphasized femininity. The period was inspired by King Edward’s love for luxury, and previous designs that were popular during the 18th century. Later Victorian Era Jewelry characteristics can be seen in Edwardian jewelry, and elements of the Arts & Crafts Movement as well. Popular Edwardian designs includes ‘dog collars’, ropes of pearls, lavaliere gemstone jewelry, diamond encrusted pieces, and intricately etched/engraved accessories.
